PRERAK has been registered under society registration act on 28th June 1989 and having its office in the village Kass situated in Gariaband block of Raipur district. Since it was surrounded by thick forest and small rivers pertaining to rain it had lots of problems in field of communication and management of programs smoothly and timely so in 1993 it was shifted to the plain area Ghorbhatti of Abhanpur block. During this period it has been registered under FCRA on 17th February 1993 in view of getting support from international donors for better implementation of community development activities.

On 1996 it had got contact with international donor like BILANCE and got financial support for Community Development Programme in Gariaband block for the year 1996-1997. Since Ghorbhatti was situated far distance from target villages and not having proper communication facilities, an administrative office was established in Nawapara-Rajim of Raipur district for proper communication with other well wishers.  And in the month of January 1997 Prerak’s field office has been sifted from Ghorbahtti to Gariaband in view of proper implementation of developmental activities in 10 villages of Gariaband block under Community Development Programme.

In 1999 we enlarged our target area from 10 to 20 villages in Gariaband and also field area starting initial works in other 25 villages and 6 helmets adjacent to these villages of Mainpur block of Raipur district and during this period we made contact with IGSSS an international donor. And got its support to run Community Development Programme in 15 villages of Mainpur in September 2000. At the same time we received support from CORDAID to workout in 20 villages of Gariaband. In 2001 we also got financial support from BROEDERLIJK DELEN for Integrated Rural Development Programme and started implementation of developmental activities in another 10 villages and 6 hamlets adjacent to these villages of Mainpur block.

In the year 2003 community Eye health program started in Gariaband block of Raipur district and Magarlod block of Dhamatari district with the support of Sight Savers International Mumbai. Similarly we started community health care program focusing on RCH (Reproductive Child Health) in the Gariaband block of Raipur district with the support of SIMAVI the Netherlands. The SIMAVI has extended its program again in the year 2006 for next two years June 2006 to May 2008.

The organization has started the bamboo cultivation project from January 2006 in 300 acres of land including 325 farmers in 26 villages of Gariaband block through the support of CAPART New Delhi government of India. We started our community based rehabilitation Programme, Community Eye Health Programme and Integrated Education for Visually Impaired children in new area Chhura and Fingeswar blocks of Raipur District, Chhattisgarh in February 2007 including 236 villages.
